Scientific findings usually show that a unique edible fruit or vegetable is great for us.  This usually leads to production of many wonderful edible products in the market.  Then subsequent findings usually show that the same fruit or vegetable is actually good for use as a topical cream or skincare product (which makes sense, if it's good enough to eat, it should be good enough to put on our skin).  It's a wonderful product development process.

Well, I've been drinking pomegranate juice for a few years now (ever since studies have shown that pomegranate is about three times or more nutritional than other leading fruit juices).  I recently discovered a new Pomegranate skincare line from www.Weleda.com.

Their pomegranate products are 100% certified natural with no perservatives, fragrances or chemicals.

I tried the Pomegranate Regenerating Hand Cream.  It's a great moisturizing cream with studies showing that the cream prevents premature formation of age spots (which is great because I'm beginning to see some signs of age spots on my hands).

In addition to being sold at Whole Foods Markets, their products are now available at all Target stores.  For more information about their products, visit www.weleda.com.  Their website is offering a free trial size of their product with the purchase of any full size Pomegranate skincare product.

Three samples of their Pomegranate Regenerating Bodycare Kits will be randomly given away to email program members by March 31st, so join the free Eco-friendlyliving.com Email program today by submitting your contact information in the "Join Free Email Program" section of this website.  Please note that your complete mailing address will need to be provided in order to receive samples.  Your contact information is not sold or shared to any third parties. I have recently tried organic French vanilla coffee from www.DeansBeans.com.  The coffee was delicious with an all-natural vanilla flavor.  Their French vanilla coffee is made from Peruvian beans.

Dean’s Beans is a family owned certified organic, fair trade coffee roaster.  Dean's Beans coffee costs about 25% less than leading brand (non-organic) coffee and are sourced from various countries.  In addition to their fair trade practice, Dean's Beans design and fund grassroots development projects in the villages where they buy their beans.  How can they do all this and still remain competitive?  Well, they do not have the large marketing budgets as other leading brand (non-organic) coffee and depend on word of mouth to reach new potential customers.  I believe that their products are great and their mission is admirable.  All of Dean's Beans fine whole bean specialty coffees are roasted in small batches at their beanery in Orange, MA.

You can also make your own custom label as well straight from their website.  In addition to their coffee products, they also offer other cool product as well.

For more information about their products, visit www.deansbeans.com.

After the hectic holiday season, the month of January is usually a very busy time of the year for personal growth and development (this is when all of us attempt to keep our newly minted annual goals).  Sometimes, it's stressful just thinking about all of the positive change we are trying to accomplish in our lives.  I am working on a number of exciting projects at home (planning to update my garden, redecorating my home, etc.). This is in addition to potty training my two year old (I know.... fun times...) It is helpful to escape the pressures that come with all of these projects.

I use my bath time for stress relief and light organic lavender candles from Beeluxe while I soak in the tub. Beeluxe product include organic body care and candles.  Their organic fragrances are free from harmful substances including: phthalates; parabens; sulfates, petrochemicals; and gylcols.  Studies have shown that toxic fumes from synthetic candles, fireplaces and factories can cause detrimental health effects.  Therefore, if you enjoy burning scented candles to set a relaxing mood at home or for a party, it’s important to use organic candles.  Beeluxe’s organic candles are made from beewax and burns without releasing any toxic fumes in the process.

For more information about their candles and other products, visit www.beeluxe.com.  Right now, www.Beeluxe.com is offering free shipment on all orders $50 and over.

25% of your total purchase will be donated to Haiti relief efforts, visit www.beeluxe.com for more details.

If you read my article, "Six Simple Steps to Become a Tea Drinking Expert," you've already learned that black, green and white tea leaves all come from the same plant, Camellia sinensis.  These teas are among the most nutritional drinks and provide an amazing amount of antioxidants.  So, can any drink possibly be more nutritional?

I found one company, The Mate Factor, that sells Yerba Mate green tea.  The tea is USDA organic certified and is actually made from the yerba mate plant (this plant is an evergreen from the Holly family that grows in the subtropical forests of South America).  Yerba Mate (Pronounced Mah-Tay) is similar to Green Tea yet higher in nutritional value. According to some studies, Yerba Mate contains 27% more active nutritional compounds than green tea.   The Mate Factor company also sells other teas.

So, how does it taste? I enjoy the aroma from this tea.  It reminds me of a blend between jasmine and green tea. It has a very faint flora taste (with no bitter aftertaste).

I love trying new organic, eco-friendly products.  Seems like each new product  is formulated to be simply better than previous ones.  This is simply the law of free markets (yes, I am still reaping the benefits of having double majors in Biology and Economics from college over a decade ago).  Sometimes we forget the trailblazers and pioneers that were bold and visionary enough to create such markets. I'm writing to remind you that their products are great and there is a reason why they have such "cult-like" followers.  I recently tried Pharmacopia's Lavender Body lotion.  The lavender scent is soothing and the lotion dries quickly (leaving just smooth silky skin).  The company was established in 1999.  My only wish is that I discovered their products sooner.

Pharmacopia is one of the first organic bodycare companies.  Pharmacopia is sold in top spas and boutiques internationally. Their products are developed according to ancient healing wisdom, promoting balance and comfort while delighting the senses. Pharmacopia’s products use potent anti-oxidants and therapeutic plant extracts with no parabens, petro-chemicals, phthalates, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, or colors.   For more information on their products, please visit

Now that the holidays have come and gone, do we still have a legitimate excuse to indulge ourselves with chocolate?  Yes, because we can eat chocolate for a good cause.  Shaman Chocolates was created in 2002 as a way to provide ongoing economic support for the indigenous Huichol Indians of Mexico. Every bar you buy helps sustain the Huichols and keeps their ancient shamanic traditions alive.  All of their chocolates are USDA Certified Organic.  I tasted the Shaman Organic Chocolate with Raspberries.  The chocolate is rich and delicious with just a subtle hint of the raspberry taste.

Have you ever been to a great Vietnamese or Thai restaurant and ordered the tea with milk (aka Thai iced tea)?  The tea tastes delicious and you go home wondering where you could buy a drink like that for you to enjoy at home.  Oregon Chai makes the best tea with milk in the market.  Oregon Chai offers USDA Organic Certified teas with milk in them.

There is a concentrated liquid form in which you add your own milk.  I tried the Oregon Chai Slightly Sweet Original Chai Tea Latte.  It is made of black tea, spices, vanilla and honey.  I loved the taste.  It reminds me of my favorite Thai restaurant, except it's better because it's 100% organic, eco-friendly and less expensive.

Dragon Pearl Tea obtains their tea leaves from the Fujian Mountains.  They used old newspaper instead of the plastic wrap for their shipment.  I tried their Jasmine Dragon Pearl Organic Green tea.   The tea leaves are sonically sealed and appear like little pearl balls in their individual bags.  However, upon brewing, the tea leaves open up like flowers and release a wonderful tea aroma.  I'm pretty sure that the green tea had caffeine because it kept me up late yesterday night.  For the authentic green tea taste, it was well worth it.

Many studies have shown that drinking tea leads to health benefits from arthritis pain relief, antioxidant properties and overall positive healthy well being.  I drink tea simply because I enjoy the taste.  Also, there tends to be no or relatively low amount of calories in tea drinks.  I tried the Citrus Blossom tea from the Art of Tea company.  They offer a wide variety of teas.  It tastes and smells great!    Find out more from www.artoftea.com
