In 2009, more than 300 cities turned off their lights for an hour to show unity in eco-friendly environmental conservation efforts.  This year, the scheduled Earth Hour day in the US is March 27th, 2010 at 8:30 EST (time varies depending on where you live).

Why participate?  The simple act of turning off your lights along side with others teaches your children and shows your neighbors you care about the environment.

The before and after photos that illustrate last year's event is amazing and hopefully will continue more energy conservation efforts throughout the world.
