As parents, we experience many challenges and frustrations.  However, one of the few "perks" of being a parent is an excuse to relive childhood memories or create new childhood memories that one has never experienced.  My son and I have started making friendship bracelets from the Alex Friends Forever Bracelet Kit.  This educational toy contains 2 styles, 8 patterns and enough strings to make up to 22 bracelets.  Just habitually tying the knots with my son side by side, made me think of when I was growing up and making friendship bracelets.  Growing up in a family being one of six children, we didn't have many toys or leisure items.  However, making friendship bracelets was a simple economical craft that occupied us for hours.  Like knitting, the perpetual knot tying is simple yet therapeutic.  We love making the friendship bracelets.  Maybe someday my children will look back and remember making friendship bracelets with me while making the bracelets with my grandchildren.  One can only hope.
