As I continue on my running streak, I realized that it is a matter of making sure that I continue to incorporate running as part of my daily life. That means I always have an extra pair of socks, sneakers, towel and change of clothes in a tote bag left in my car for those moments where I can change and go for a run. When well planned, this means the bag is my gym bag and is usually used at the fitness club. However, I have been known to "change into running clothes" in restrooms located in malls, bookstores and restaurants whenever the opportunity to run presents itself. I feel like a superhero changing quickly into my running outfit, but it is worth the hassle. Running is a moving meditation for me. I am able to observe and appreciate my running route (photo shown here is one of my favorite greenways). Let the running streak continue!
I have started a daily running streak before the beginning of 2015 and am still running each day for at least 3 miles. I've found that this commitment is hard. It is harder than training for a full marathon because I don't get a single rest day. I am committed to run (even when I don't feel like it). I have begun to realized that that are many obstacles to running every day (work, family, weather, friends, etc. commitments are all impacting me). What has kept me going is my stubborn persistence.
Time to throw on my running shoes and run!
A week before the new year I was thinking what would be a challenging and exciting running goal for 2015. I decided that I would start a running streak and run at least 3 miles each day for 365 days. I was so excited that I started before the new year and am still going strong! I hope to share my running experience here with you. I will also be practicing yoga every day as well.
